In a significant development for Filipino patients undergoing hemodialysis, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has announced an increase in the benefit package rate for hemodialysis sessions from PHP 2,600 to PHP 4,000 per session. This announcement, made by the Department of Health (DOH), aims to bring closer the highest quality healthcare to every Filipino. According to DOH Secretary and PhilHealth Board chair Teodoro Herbosa, the increase in the benefit package is part of initiatives highlighted in the second State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which aims to make dialysis free for the majority of Filipinos. Included in the rate increase are approved payments for catheter insertion and blood transfusion, which can be claimed separately from the main case rate for admission.
